The New Forest

Find out about the New Forest National Park in the south of England.

The New Forest National Park

A mixture of heathland and woodland with wild ponies, cattle, donkeys and pigs allowed to go all over the New Forest.

Created by King William I in 1079 as hunting area. The local people were given "Common" rights so that they could allow their stock to graze the forest. Some of these rights are still practiced today. Which is why we are blessed with the iconic New Forest Ponies.
